DJ Rocryte at the Simple Truth Julio Rodríguez Baseball ProCamp

Simple Truth Julio Rodriguez Baseball Camp 2026 @ Kennedy Catholic High School

Baseball, music, community, and one unforgettable Seattle summer day.

Some DJ gigs are about playing the right songs and keeping the energy high. Others mean a little more.

Getting the opportunity to DJ at the Simple Truth Julio Rodríguez Baseball ProCamp was definitely one of those moments.

The camp brought together young baseball players for a chance to learn, compete, have fun, and spend the day around one of Seattle’s biggest sports stars, Julio Rodríguez. My job was to provide the soundtrack and help keep the energy going throughout the experience.

Bringing the Energy to the Field

DJing a sports event is a little different from playing a nightclub or wedding.

Yes, you have to pay attention to what’s happening around you. But, there are moments when the music needs to bring the energy up, moments when it needs to sit in the background, and moments when the perfect song can completely change the atmosphere.

For the ProCamp, I wanted the music to feel fun, energetic, family-friendly, and connected to the kids on the field.

That meant mixing current hits, hip-hop, throwbacks, stadium anthems, and recognizable songs that players, parents, coaches, and staff could all enjoy.

The goal wasn't to make the DJ the center of attention.

The goal was to make the entire experience feel bigger.

More Than Just Playing Music

Events like the Julio Rodríguez Baseball ProCamp remind me why I love being a DJ.

Music has a way of connecting everything.

A kid stepping up to hit.

Parents cheering from the sidelines.

Coaches keeping everyone motivated.

Julio walking onto the field.

A song comes on that everybody recognizes.

Suddenly, it's not just a baseball camp anymore. It's a moment.

That's one of my favorite parts about DJing sports and community events. I get to help create the atmosphere people associate with those memories.

Read the moment. Connect with the crowd. Bring the energy.

I'm grateful to everyone involved with the Simple Truth Julio Rodríguez Baseball ProCamp for having me be part of such a great event.

And to all the young ballplayers who came out:

Keep swinging.

Keep working.

And keep having fun.

Always a vibe.

Checking Off the Bucket List: DJing at a Children's Hospital ✅

I never imagined I would ever DJ a children’s hospital grand opening! Here we are!

May 2, 2026 marks the date I had the privilege of being the DJ for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and it was more than I ever expected! They had HUGE LED screen, a stage for myself and the musicians. Mickey Mouse, Spiderman and all the Disney princesses came out to check out the new children’s hospital and hang out with the kids!

Before they started the program, I had the opportunity to do a showcase and show the kids how I “ROC”. LOL. Being able to put a smile on the kids faces by doing what I love, makes me happy deep down to my core.

Thank so much Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital for having me! This was one for the books!

Checking Off the Bucket List: Very First Art Walk ✅

What’s up ya’ll! I want to start highlighting ALL the events that I’ve done. I’ll start with recent ones and work my way down the list. LOL. I know, there are a lot of events, but I have to remind myself that every event that hire’s me, is special! Like this one.

20+ years of DJing and this is my very first art walk in Seattle! At this stage in my career, I look forward to DJing small lounges, private events and all events where I can showcase my talent. I love to DJ and I love the art surrounding DJing. I love to scratch, mix genre’s and just generally, play with music. This event was so refreshing because there was no expectations of what I needed to play and how to play it. I didn’t need to play the typical clubs songs. Shout out to Royce Yuen for inviting me and allowing me to create the soundtrack for this event! He trusted me to be me.

Thank you Gallery Together, Royce Yuen and everyone who was apart of this event! I can’t wait to work with you all again!

Gallery Together presents: Portrait of Becoming - May 7, 2026

Portrait of Becoming moves through the many versions of who we are.

Across visual art, wearable design, and sound, this exhibition explores identity as layered, shifting, and never singular. Each work offers a distinct perspective, shaped by different histories, mediums, and ways of seeing, yet existing together within a shared space.

Faces blur. Forms evolve. Garments reimagined. Sound carries what words cannot.

What emerges is not one narrative, but many, intersecting, contrasting, and unfolding in real time.

The space becomes a living portrait, reflecting the multiplicity of who we are, and who we are still becoming. Not who we were. Not yet who we’ll be.

The Origin Story

Hey Everyone!

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to click and read my blog! We are already in April and I haven’t even posted a blog. LOL. Well I wanted to kick things off by you getting to know Josh! If you only know me as DJ ROCRYTE, then you don’t really know me.

Well, my name is Josh Pizarro and I am born and raised in Seattle, WA. In between Upper Rainier Beach and Skyway. IFYKYK. My dad (Angelo Pizarro) is a very well known guitarist in the Pacific Northwest. Growing up I would wake up to the sounds of guitar strings and falling asleep to the same rhythm at night. The house was always filled with music. Just listening to music. Listening to music is the first level of learning to DJ. I think that’s what shaped my sound and style.

I would be putting my ear through the vent in my room to listen to my dad practice by himself or with the family band. The way my dad and the band would transition songs was something special. To go from country to disco and everything in between was amazing! Some bands today don’t even do that. Mixing different genre’s and era’s of music is fun and watching my dad do that live really opened my eyes to different types of music. This really stuck with me growing up.

And now, when people hear me DJ, I’m not just playing songs. It’s how I play songs. How I mix them in. I’m not saying I am ALWAYS going to take you on a journey through music, but I am going to keep you singing and moving your feet…or booty lol. I want people to have an experience. To feel the energy. The Nostalgia. The connection.

And at the end of the day, I’m just a chill guy who loves what he does! Thank you coming through and learning a little about me. Talk to you again soon!

Behind the Booth

Behind the Booth is a behind-the-scenes look at life as a working DJ—on stage, off stage, and everywhere in between.

I’m DJ ROCRYTE, and this blog documents the real journey: club nights, weddings, arenas, private events, practice sessions, wins, mistakes, and everything you don’t see once the music starts. From reading the room and building the perfect set to gear breakdowns, music discovery, branding, and the hustle that comes with being a DJ, this is where it all lives.

Whether you’re a fellow DJ, an aspiring creative, or just someone who loves music and nightlife culture, this blog is about growth, consistency, and creating moments through sound.

No gatekeeping. No fluff. Just real experiences from behind the booth.
