Growing up I would wake up to the sounds of guitar strings and falling asleep to the same rhythm at night. The house was always filled with music. Just listening to music. Listening to music is the first level of learning to DJ. I think that’s what shaped my sound and style.
I would be putting my ear through the vent in my room to listen to my dad practice by himself or with the family band. The way my dad and the band would transition songs was something special. To go from country to disco and everything in between was amazing! Some bands today don’t even do that. Mixing different genre’s and era’s of music is fun and watching my dad do that live really opened my eyes to different types of music. This really stuck with me growing up.
